ABOUT ADVENTCHA©
ADVENTCHA© WAS CREATED FROM THE BELIEF THAT DAILY RITUALS CAN LEAD TO EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEYS.
My name is BJ, I grew up between worlds. Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa and Australia, four childhoods really, each one handing me a different idea of what it meant to belong somewhere. In each place I was the new kid, the outsider looking for a way in. And in each place it was community that opened the door. Not sameness. Not shared history. Just people willing to pull up a chair and let me sit at their table.
That's the seed this whole venture grew from.
ADVENTCHA© was never just about tea. It's the name itself, adventure and cha, the word for tea across half the countries that raised me, stitched together because that's exactly what this is: an adventure, a reason to go looking, and something to share once you've found it. Ethically sourced tea is the excuse. The real project is the adventure, gathering, bringing together people who believe that fairness and connection shouldn't be optional extras, but the whole point.
I've always been the one who wants to see what's over the next hill, who can't sit still when there's a place I haven't been or a person I haven't met yet. That restlessness isn't a flaw I've learned to live with. It's the engine. It's why ADVENTCHA© exists at all. Every leaf we source, every relationship we build with the people who grow it, carries that same instinct: go find what's good, make sure it's fair, and bring everyone along for the journey.
This is a company built the way community was built for me — one honest connection at a time, across borders, over something as simple and as old as a shared cup of tea.
A tea grown without shortcuts is a tea you can drink without wondering what else is in it.
FOUNDING JOURNEY
THE PROBLEM
The more I looked into how matcha actually reaches a tin, the less I liked what I found. Commodity sourcing with no real traceability, matcha that could have come from anywhere, farmers squeezed by middlemen who took the margin and left none of the story behind. Nobody selling it seemed to know, or care, where it had actually come from. That silence bothered me more than it should have.
THE JOURNEY
So I went to find out for myself. I flew to Japan and spent weeks visiting farms, meeting farmers, walking fields at hours most people never see them, asking questions that had never really been asked of them before. I wasn't looking for a supplier. I was looking for a community of people who cared the way I wanted to care, and a standard Adventcha could stand behind.
THE RESULT
What came back with me wasn't just tea. It was a handful of farms I trusted completely, and a set of non-negotiables I built into everything from day one: direct trade, full traceability back to the specific farm and the specific hands, and quality standards I wouldn't compromise even when it would have been easier to. That's Adventcha. Not a tin on a shelf, but a chain of people who all agreed to do this properly.
